We build Jambot: musical worlds designed for autistic children to explore, create, and play on their own terms.
Meet Jambot. Musical worlds designed for autistic children to explore and create.
Zerno prototype · In development
Product information for families
Explore jambot.caStudio
An immersive music room where hands and movement shape sound.
Working VR prototype
Quest
An iPad-first musical adventure with characters, instruments, and child-paced exploration.
iPad experience in development
Brush
An external VR controller designed to become different instruments depending on how it is held.
Controller research & development
JamBot Live
A musical partner on macOS.
Our working desktop prototype responds to live MIDI playing with generated musical accompaniment. It gives musicians a way to explore a jam without first organising a full band.
Play together
Musical responses draw on the phrases and relationships in the jam.
Shape the sound
Choose instruments and styles, then explore melody, harmony and percussion together.
Still in development
Live audio listening and broader musical learning are being developed and tested. This is a working prototype, not a finished consumer release.
JamBot Music Lessons · Planned research
Learning how musicians play together.
We want JamBot to become a more attentive musical partner: one that understands groove, phrasing, turn-taking and when to leave space. Music Lessons is our planned programme for studying these relationships in musical recordings.
Sources with a record
Creative Commons recordings will be reviewed for the actual use, with licence evidence, attribution and source provenance. Finding a recording is not permission to train on it.
Small experiments first
We plan bounded offline cloud experiments and comparisons with the current musical engine. Cloud training has not started. Future audio generation is a separate research and product goal.
Private jams stay separate
Players’ private recordings are not part of the planned lessons corpus without separate consent. Contributing a jam will not be a condition of using the core music-making experience.
Research & progress
Built through research.
Developed through play.
Research ethics approval
REB approval received for the initial research.
2-participant feasibility study
Initial feasibility work completed. An early research step, not proof of effectiveness.
20-child pilot
The next planned study involves 20 autistic children.
Jambot is in development. Research ethics approval is not product certification, and clinical effectiveness has not been established.

Company details
- Company
- Sound Palette Inc. is a Canadian technology startup founded January 1, 2026. We develop our own software and musical interaction products.
- What we build
- JamBot is our proprietary, patent-pending musical interaction platform. JamBot Live explores responsive accompaniment on macOS; Studio, Quest and Brush explore immersive, tablet and controller-based musical play. Working prototypes are in development.
- Who it is for
- Musicians who want a responsive jam partner, and people exploring musical play without conventional performance demands. Our accessible product research centres autistic children and neurodivergent learners, with families and educators.
- Access and business model
- We intend to keep JamBot’s core music-making functions free. Sound Palette retains ownership of its software. We are exploring research and education partnerships, funding and licensing outside core access to support development; these routes are not yet final.
- Team and experience
- Founder Alex Purcell leads musical design, research and product development, informed by his work as a musician and doctoral research in music, autism and VR. Engineering, design and study operations support the prototype work. Founder and company professional profiles are linked below.
- Stage and next steps
- Working prototypes and a public Studio demo are available. Music Lessons and cloud training are planned; no cloud-trained model or clinical effectiveness is claimed. Contact us for a current product walkthrough.
